“Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in
all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all
the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you.
All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.
Joshua 23:14
Today, as I walked and prayed in my neighborhood, I was venting to God what I needed a
breakthrough for. I was heavy as I shared my heart and God seemed aloof as I did so. As I
almost settled in my mind that my prayer time would end with me still having the burden it was
then that I saw a rainbow. A beautiful rainbow right in front of me! And I remembered His
promises and immediately began to thank Him for them. Over and over, my walk turned from a
burdened vent fest into praise and faith as I remembered His Word to me and faithfulness to do
what He said He will do.
No doubt, when the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness they wondered if God
was going to keep His promise about the Promised Land as they attended funeral after funeral
of their loved ones and neighbors whose unbelief denied their access. They had to follow the
leadership and example of two leaders of faith: Joshua and Caleb. Joshua and Caleb from the
first glance of the Promised Land believed and now 40 plus years later were still full of faith.
Caleb amazes me that at 85 years of age when they finally crossed in, he is ready to take his
mountain. He said to Joshua, “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of
God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea.” He reminds Joshua of a promise that he has
held onto for 45 years: "Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance
and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God." Caleb then
shares how this promise from the Lord has kept him alive and how he is just as strong at 85 as
he was at 40! How about that? God’s promises, when believed, have a way of keeping you
strong and healthy to inherit them when the time comes. Caleb then proceeded to go to
Hebron and whoop a bunch of giants to take what was his (Read Joshua 14:6-12 and Joshua
15:14)!
God kept His promises then and He will keep His promises now ... to you! Today, as you recall
all your problems and circumstances why don't you recall His promises and His faithfulness to
keep them? The rainbow was given almost 4,500 years ago as a reminder that the whole earth
would not be flooded again. He's kept a 4,500-year promise and I can assure you He will keep
His promises to you. What are those promises? Are you believing them?
God keeps His Promises and always will!
